Child Support & Maintenance File Editor

Follow the guidelines in C.R.S. § 14-10-115 (for Child Support) and C.R.S. § 14-10-114 (for Maintenance) to determine the values you should enter for each field.

There is no Save button on the file editor page. Every time you change a value and step off the field, the change is automatically saved.

All amounts should be entered as Monthly Amounts.

Press the Print Worksheet button to generate the printed forms which can be filed with the court.

Press the Edit File Settings button to change the file settings that were entered when creating the file.

As you enter data, the calculation results are updated automatically. Click the result to see a quick preview of the calculation details. Click again to close the preview.

Child Support Section

Enter the number of children for this calculation. Leave empty if you want to calculate maintenance without calculating child support.

Set the number of children to a value between zero and six. Setting this value to zero will skip child support calculation. The guidelines do not provide information beyond six children.

Do not include non-joint children in this field. You can enter the number of non-joint children in the Income section.

Select the Same Schedule option if all children share the same overnights schedule. Otherwise, select the Different Schedules option and enter the overnights per child. See C.R.S. § 14-10-115 (8)(g).

Enter the number of overnights for one of the parties. The number of overnights of the other parties is calculated automatically.

Press the calculator icon next to an overnights field for the following options:

  • Assign all overnights to the selected party.
  • Split the overnights evenly between the parties.
  • Estimate the number of overnights for the selected party using the overnights calculator.

The Child Support Guidelines do not provide information on monthly income above $30,000. Use the Extrapolate switch to determine whether Math4Law should extrapolate the result beyond $30,000, or cap it at that level.

Maintenance Section

You can calculate the maintenance in this case, or enter the value manually.

Enter the marriage length in years and months to calculate the maintenance term.

CRS § 14-10-114(3.5) states that for annual income above $240,000 ($20,000 monthly income), the standard calculation method does not apply. Please choose whether you want to use the standard calculation method for the higher amount or cap it at $20,000.
